Steps to reproduce:

I selected 11664 articles end hit the delete key.


Actual results:

Only 1222 articles where deleted.


Expected results:

All 11664 articles should have been deleted

The problem is with threads. The 'head' article and some of the articles beneath the 'head' article are deleted, but not all.

Selected was 11664
Total was 94786
After deletion total was 93564, so 1222 articles where deleted. More as the 'head' articles, but only slightly more as 10% of the selected articles.

Then I suppose if you un-select thread display, you might be able to delete all messages.

First: that makes deleting a lot more work. When I want to delete 200 threads, with on average 200 articles in it ...
Second: the articles in the thread are partly deleted. They should be all deleted or none at all. My preference would be all.
Third: TB says they are selected. Then TB should not say this.

@Jim I noticed it on news. (Do not have enough email to need deletion yet.)

In Thunderbird 128.7.0, selecting a news article with a collapsed thread and issuing the delete command results in the following dialog:

This will delete messages in collapsed threads. Are you sure you want to continue?

Proceeding with the deletion operation does indeed delete all the articles in the thread, at least for me.

The reporter's account is inactive so it's not possible to ask them to try reproducing the issue on their OS.
