User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0 Build ID: 20120224155729 Steps to reproduce: Open Firefox and look at the icons. Actual results: Firefox doens't use the native KDE icons. Expected results: Firefox should use native KDE icons.

Firefox does not "officially" support KDE integration, AFAIK. Moving this to enhancement requests in case a volunteer wants to fix it.

When I go to System Settings -> Application Appearance -> Gtk Config, set "Select Icons Theme" to oxygen and apply, my ~/.gtkrc-2.0 gets deleted (not even in the Trash) and replaced with a file that causes Firefox to use the oxygen icon theme. Firefox is usually distributed on Linux as a GTK app. There are a number of GTK apps and KDE tries (awkwardly) to work with them. I don't think we want the GTK port to not behave like a GTK app.

Are you saying this is a KDE bug or a bug in how KDE is configured in this case?
I guess the bug is really that there is no cross-desktop way of specifying the user's preferred icon theme (AFAIK - I don't see anything in a quick glance at http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Specifications/icon-theme-spec). KDE has a workaround for this, if users prefer that over editing ~/.gtkrc-2.0, so I'm guessing this report is mostly a bug in how KDE is configured. A Qt port would also be a solution, but a lot of work.
Valentin, please report this to Kubuntu or KDE people.
