User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:10.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/10.0.2
Build ID: 20120216081259
Steps to reproduce:
Create a task or event and choose a category.
Actual results:
The categories offered by default are of several different types and missing categories for those types.
The current default categories are: Anniversary, Birthday, Business, Calls, Clients, Competition, Customer, Favorites, Follow up, Gifts, Holidays, Ideas, Issues, Meeting, Miscellaneous, Personal, Projects, Public Holiday, Status, Suppliers, Travel, Vacation
These can be grouped by the following types:
- days:
Anniversary
Birthday
Holidays
Public Holiday
Travel
Vacation
- activities:
Meeting
Calls
Issues
Follow up
Gifts
Status
Ideas
Projects
- entities:
Business
Suppliers
Clients
Competition (also activity for sports)
Customer
- misc:
Personal
Favorites
Miscellaneous
When analysing the default categories for each type certain categories are missing. Also the level of detail differs a lot.
Expected results:
The following default categories should be available too:
- Training
- Exam
- Seminar
- Fair
- Convention
- Conference
- Reception
- Party
- Ceremony
- Funeral
The above additional default categories have been chosen to be not too specific but filling the wholes found in the existing set. Also they have been kept to a minimum as to not make the default set too big.
For internationalisation, translations to Ducth and German are:
- Training, Training
- Examen, Prüfung
- Seminar, Seminar
- Beurs, Messe
- Congres, Kongress
- Conferentie, Konferenz
- Receptie, Feier
- Feest, Partei
- Ceremonie, Zeremonie
- Begrafenis, Beerdigung
Note that also the patch offered at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411254 should be extended. I propose:
- Training: something similar but less intense as competition
- Exam: something red
- Seminar: something similar to meeting
- Fair: something similar to meeting
- Convention: something similar to meeting
- Conference: something similar to meeting
- Reception: something similar to birthday
- Party: something similar to birthday
- Ceremony: something similar to birthday
- Funeral: black

By adding these ten default categories relating to business, sporting and/or personal events, the categories initially offered to the end user are more consistent and reduces the amount of custom categories that need to be created by the end user manually.
