Hi Winston, We currently have snippets running to encourage users running old beta to upgrade to the latest version. We've been seeing pretty good results hence I think the snippets channel is definitely a good channel for us to promote this effort. However, we still have a bout 1m users in old betas, so we need to continue to find ways to reach them or catch their attention. One idea where we think would improve results even more is to make the copy more direct and have an eye catching visual. I want the visual to catch the user's attention and flag or indicate it is critical for them to update their beta. Current Copy: Are you running the latest Firefox Beta? [mozilla.org/firefox/beta | Get it now and help us test the latest features. Proposed Copy: You are not running the latest Beta. Upgrade to the latest Firefox Beta now. (adding matej for recommendations or feedback or provide other options) Visual Suggestions: Sad Face: http://screencast.com/t/mSaCZiaRN Slater also recommended maybe we can make the box red? Open to suggestions. Localization: We should also get this localized once we have the final copy. Thanks!
Are we able to detect which users are and aren't on the current version with snippets? Because I don't think we should be telling the entire channel they're not on the latest version. Maybe we could do something like this that is still direct, but doesn't explicitly say they're on an old version: Upgrade to the latest version of Firefox Beta to stay on top of the latest features. OTOH, if we can serve this up just to out of date users, then here's a tweak on Grace's version: Your Firefox Beta is out of date. Upgrade to the latest version now.

Upgrade to the latest version now. Thanks Matej! Slater/Laura Forrest, any recommendations on the image? Or how we can make this more noticeable/eye catching? Red Sad face? Red box around the snippet? Please advise. We plan to get this live this week if possible. Thanks!
Let's start with more direct copy, and go from there. A sad face graphic could be good too. Making the box red will require more time + dev work. This snippet will only be able to take folks so far. About 50% of users customize their start page away from this page. Grace, I'd look to investigate questions on the product side like why these users aren't upgrading and if we force them to upgrade, etc.
thanks laura. let's go with the direct copy and the sad face then. we also working with product in getting these users to the latest beta, but we are just covering all our bases. we already have one snippet showing to users running old betas. this has driven 75k downloads already and are converting to 37%. my assumption is that, having a more direct copy and a graphic that stands out, will just improve or increase the snippet performance. thanks again!
Grace or Laura - where can I find the sad face graphic? I also found this in the snippet image library. Might be good to test the two to see which is more effective: https://plus.google.com/photos/113705421631975388425/albums/5603292440905850097/5603292515467125170?banner=pwa
that image looks great as well.
+1 for the testing. Lee may have the sad face, or if not he could probably create something relatively easily.
Also, in the longer term could we implement a more in your face solution like the ones being discussed in 734197?
adding lee to the bug. thanks!
lee, do you have a sad face image we can use for the snippet by any chance? thanks!
