In 734448 a service will be built to sign apps. 

We'll need to alter the marketplace to use that. Presumably there will be some sort of http api, but I'm not sure at the moment.
Yep, it's an http thing, but we still need a spec.  current status is floating around in emails.  I'll poke the threads.
