On AMO it's pretty much a mystery where you'll end up if you enter a search term in the search box. Depending on the page (/, /extensions/, /personas/, /collections/, /search/) or the category (/extensions/games-entertainment/) or application (/firefox/, /thunderbird/, /mobile/), we apply different filters (GET parameters) behind the scenes. In summary, we need to handle searches from within apps category listing pages whilst allowing users to still do global searches outside the category. I'm thinking a radio/checkbox/select. Anyhow, this bug covers the backend/front-end implementation, but talk to UX about how to visually present this.
