From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.75 (Macintosh; U; PPC)
BuildID: 2001032613 -- Mozilla 0.8.1
The menubar is corrupted in Mozilla 0.8.1. I also saw this in earlier nightlies.
It has a continous flow of text, weird characters in grey. When I click the
menubar I get a crash, and MacsBugs gives the following error:
System error #84 = menuPrgErr at 00AC7C6E
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start Mozilla
2.Click menubar
Actual Results: Mozilla crashes
Expected Results: Opened one of the menus (the ones that aren't there)
Using swedish Mac OS 9.1.
Cleared all my old preferences:
Macintosh HD: Dokument (where Mozilla keeps its profiles)
and Macintosh HD: Systemmappen: Mozilla Registry & Mozilla Versions
(system folder)

Mozilla used to work on this system.

hrm, for 0.8.1 i don't think anything changed in the menu code. Could you try a
nightly build and see if it still does that? Or try tossing your component
registry and re-running?
I agree this sucks, but no one around here has reported anything even remotely
similar.

I doubt many users of a swedish Mac OS even test Mozilla, to be honest.
I will grab a recent nightly and try.
Component Registry? The one in Mozilla Folder/, right? Tried that.
I will try again though.

I should also mention that it's impossible to enter any text into Mozilla. I can
click links, select listboxes etc, but not enter text.
Tried the latest Mac nightly availible, from the 24th of March: just as bad as
Mozilla -- corrupted menubar which results in a crash when clicked.
The embedding test application worked of course -- I could enter text in the
location bar, and the menu worked (again, of course), but entering text in a
textbox didn't work.

file another bug on the 'inability to enter text' problem. let's keep the two
issues separate.
ftang? anyone have access to a sweedish system in your group? what's different?

The only similar thing I've seen is when someone around here had a corruped OS
and the default menubar resource failed to load (that should never happen). Most
of their other apps ran fine, but mozilla just didn't work since we have some
funky menu code. Is there another swedish
9.1 system we can verify this on?

I don't have another system to test it on.
What exactly do you mean by a "corrupted OS"?

Tomorrow I will try if older versions of Mozilla work.

By corrupted OS, I mean that mozilla worked for this person when they performed
a clean install of MacOS 9. I'm not sure if that is your problem or not.

OK, this bug appears with Mozilla 0.7 and M18 as well! ://
What do you suggest I do? I can't understand how my system has gone "corrupt"?
Would reinstalling OS 9 over my old system fix this?

...a clean install is not an option.

Should I try to install OS 9 on top of my old install? Please, anyone?
