Mozilla/5.0(Android;Tablet;rv:13.0)Gecko/13.0 Firefox/13.0a2 Fennec/13.a2 Asus A500 (Android 3.2) Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to news.google.com 2. Zoom in the page 3. Long tap on a text area 4. Pan the page up/down Expected Result: The text selection is not disabled while panning the page around. Actual Result: Cannot pan the page after the text selection.
Just to be clear, this is the XUL version of Fennec. This might be related to bug 736067. This might be a regression from bug 721484.
The regression ranges are different. For both the builds from March 12 and 13 the behavior is the same: I can't pan if I do a long tap and try to pan without taking the finger off the screen but I can if I tap somewhere else and pan - the selection is dismissed though. The same can be seen on Aurora /13.0a2 2012-03-15 - the build the bug was reported on. I'm not sure if you should be able to pan when selecting text and dragging, all without taking the finger off the touchscreen.
I've try to find a regression range for this bug but i don't think this feature was ever implemented. I registered this bug in conformity with the litmus test case https://litmus.mozilla.org/show_test.cgi?id=49077. Will this be implemented in the future for the XUL version of Fennec ?
Need to check to see if this still exists.
Doesn't happen on Native; I don't see this occurring on release. 10.0.5 esr I don't see this in the beta candidate 14b6. Paul can you retest please?
I've re verified this using release 10.0.5 esr and beta candidate 14b6 on Acer A500 (Android 3.2). Using the exact STR from the TC https://litmus.mozilla.org/show_test.cgi?id=49077 the issue is still reproducible and the behavior is like Adrian describe it in comment 2. The tests case is not so clear if you should try to pan the page after selecting the text without lifting you finger up or you should release and try to pan after that. In bough the cases i think there is a issue because: For the first case: I can't pan if I do a long tap and try to pan without taking the finger off the screen For the second case: I can pan if I tap somewhere else but the text selection is dismissed.
I would think that this would be expected. Can you explain why you would want to be able to pan while doing a long tap without taking the finger off the screen?
Adding UX based on comment 6... Would like UX to take a look over this. I think this is expected?
