User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0 Build ID: 20120312181643 Steps to reproduce: Penetration of installations over whole user community by patched versions degrades due to current version update politics. Actual results: Currently the functional/stability improvements/innovations are mixed with security related patches in main version updates. Update procedure is very expensive when updating to next major version because language packs must be updated, some extensions lose validation (they must be updated as well), even extensions made in the past compatible with new major version by extension's version bump (there are such cases!). Lot of users know how much effort can making all extensions compatible with new major version produce. Under these circumstances lot of users decide to postpone the update procedure due to extensive efforts it is producing. Unfortunately they also reject application of security patches by doing so. Expected results: Security patches must have own update cycle and must not be mixed with functional/stability innovations/improvements.
I think there is the Firefox ESR version for these needs.
