We've brought a lot of cuteness to the world with Firefox Live, but it's time to retire the site as the cubs are growing up.

We'd like to EOL http://mozilla.org/firefoxlive/ on Thursday March 22 and have the URL redirect to a blog post that will be published on blog.mozilla.com. On Wednesday once I have the URL for the blog post, I'll add it to this bug.

Please let me know if anything else is needed for retiring this site. Thanks!

this site (including redirects) is all in SVN and handled by the content folks.

Thanks Dave.

Similar to retiring Firefox Live year, we would like to space out the blog post and site retirement a few days. We'll go ahead with publishing the blog post on 3/22 as planned. Then we'll retire the site and add the redirect to the blog post on 3/27.

Fred, can you find someone to help with this on 3/27 please? Thanks!

Do you need access to http://blog.mozilla.com/website-archive/ to write your blog post?

jlongster, can you make a redirect and remove the fxlive code for the 27th, when we have a URL? Should be simple to turn off.

Yes please.

I added you, it should have sent you an invite. Let me know how it goes!
The blog post on the Website Archive blog is staged and ready to be published. The URL will be http://blog.mozilla.com/website-archive/2012/03/28/firefox-live-part-2/ (note: the date in the URL may need to be updated).

jlongster, let me know if there's anything else you need from me. Thanks!

I need to know the exact URL to use, that won't be changed. It also needs to be live before I push. Once I have that I can push the redirect live.
Thanks James - here is the exact URL for the redirect:
