Can you please set up a Mozilla blog at http://blog.mozilla.com/mreavy and make me the admin? Thanks.
New blogs need PR ack.

Hi Maire,

we are currently in a decision making process on whether individual blogs should live on the Mozilla infrastructure or not. The idea of the recently created Mozilla Blog Guidelines (still in draft version, here: https://wiki.mozilla.org/One-Mozilla-Project/Documentation/Blog-Guidelines) is also to streamline as much relevant content as possible to our official team blogs. So let's please hold this until we have a decision on individual and personal blogs on blog.moziila.com (an update on this should come from Chris Beard very shorty).

In the meantime, would you like to contribute to one of the existing Mozilla team blogs? If you let us know what you are planning to blog about, we can certainly help you find the right place. Of course you are always welcome to blog on any personal, self-hosted blog you might already have.

Thanks,

Valerie
I'm the new product manager for the media team within platform (Roc's, Robert O'Callahan's, team). I'd like to blog about the cool stuff we're doing and the success we're having, as well as what we're planning to do and what's on the horizon in the media space (including challenges we're facing or likely to face). I was hoping Mozilla could host my blog to start to see if there's real interest and to get me going quickly (I'd spend many hours setting something up on my own site and I just don't have the time to do that right now). My hope was to be up and running (and blogging) in a day or so.

Thanks, Valerie, for anything you can do to help. Yesterday I was starting to use the new dev.media newsgroup to post some of the stuff I'd rather be blogging about.

I don't understand this. I've read the guidelines through twice and that's all about official blogs that carry the official mozilla branding. That's just not the case for dozens and dozens of Mozilla hosted blogs. If this is the path you all are taking, do you plan on revoking the many blogs mozilla has already handed out to employees over the years? IMO, a better policy would be "don't use the official branded theme(s) with your blog unless it's an official blog" and not "we don't want you blogging as an individual."

Maire, as I think getting going quickly - as an individual Mozilla leader, is really important, go ahead and set up a wordpress.com blog and expense it. We can close this bug.
Hi Asa,

as mentioned above, we are currently discussing the questions you raised - and some of them go beyond of what's in the guidelines. This is why we have been taking these questions (e.g. how do we want to handle individual's blogs on the Mozilla infrastructure, how do we make it clearer to people that most of these contain somewhat personal opinions etc) to a higher level to be discussed. We are all eagerly awaiting feedback on this to move forward with a variety of projects, and should be able to act promptly as soon as a decision on this has been made.

Hope this helps making things a little clearer at this stage.

Thanks,

Valerie
