Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686) AppleWebKit/535.11 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/17.0.963.83 Safari/535.11 Steps to reproduce: I was writing a message Actual results: Suddenly a dialog appeared "There was an error while saving your message to drafts" I clicked Retry but it would fail again and repeat the error message. Additionally, when I finally gave up and clicked "Cancel", the error message immediately popped up again, and again. I had to "cancel" three or four times in order to get rid of the dialog. I guess this happened when the autosave was triggered. After this I created a new message and manually tried to save it as draft and I got the exact same problem. No way I could save a draft. Restarting Thunderbird fixed the issue. Expected results: 1. The error should not happen in the first place 2. The error message should give more information or give the option to retrieve more information. WHAT kind of error? disk full? permission denied? draft folder is corrupt? Whatever it is it should tell you 3. When you hit cancel the error shouldn't pop up again. Clicking Cancel ONCE should be enough.
(In reply to matteo sisti sette from comment #0) > Steps to reproduce: > I was writing a message > Actual results: > Suddenly a dialog appeared "There was an error while saving your message to drafts" It's by auto-save, and the error message means "save to draft folder failed". What is your auto-save setting? (Tools/Option/Composition, Auto Save every ...") What folder do you select as "folder to save draft mail"? (Copies&Folders of Identity used in mail composition.) (Check "Show confirmatio dialog ..." to know auo-save happened.) > I clicked Retry but it would fail again and repeat the error message. When did your problem start to occur? After upgrade of Tb? Or it's your first use of Tb or first use of b's profile/account set up? Is your "folder to save draft mail" local mail folder(POP3, Local Folders)? Or IMAP folder? Can you copy a mail to your the "folder to save draft mail" manually? If IMAP folder, is there the "folder to save draft mail" at server?
Autosave is every 5 minutes. As I mentioned the issue disappeared after restarting. I've used Thunnderbird for years and this occurred after no particular change that I know of. I think it had even already autosaved several times the same day. the folder to save draft mail is a folder called "draft" andit is a local mail folder of a POP3 account, not imap. Didn't try to copy the mail manually. Now saving works anyway.
Phenomenon of "loal folder access suddenly fails" is reported to some bugs, and restart of Tb is needed in such cases. For example, bug 653724, bug 700987, bug 707933. Is Error similar to those bus shown in Error Console when your problem happened? Do you use Global Inbox for POP3 accounts? (Server Settings/Advanced button, "Global Inbox(Local FoldersAccount" or "Inbox for different account" is checked)

No, no global inbox. It's "Inbox for this server's account" (every accout has this option checked). > Is Error similar to those bus shown in Error Console when your problem happened? I don't know. I never experienced this issue again, except when attaching files from a samba share, but that's a different issue, it fails to retrieve the files to attach.
OK. Thanks for the update. WFM
