Note: This works fine on Chrome, Fx Aurora, Fx Beta and Fx Major Release. Also, when looking at the activity monitor I saw two processes: Nightly and "firefox". The hang seemed to be tied to the "firefox" process.

I tested this on Windows using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:14.0) Gecko/20120326 Firefox/14.0a1 and I am not able to reproduce this hang issue. Will try on Mac 10.7 next.

Reducing severity and adding qawanted.

Nope - I used a fresh profile (and I'm still able to reproduce). I'll try to nail down a regressing bug here using mozregression.
Oh whoops - I thought this was my bug (bug 740097). Same issue though.
Last good nightly: 2012-03-22
First bad nightly: 2012-03-23

Sample of Nightly during hang
It's caused by the Java plugin, I have version 13.6.0 installed on 10.6.8. See the attached sample for the hang. Disabling the plugin prevents the hang.
Stephen - you have a good eye for mac/plugin issues. Any idea on what the regressing changeset may be?
Getting the hang on this page too: http://mathworld.wolfram.com/DisdyakisTriacontahedron.html
Forcing Firefox to send a crash report gives this, if it is any help: https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-64ac3210-6226-46cd-9a89-d20552120330

Not off the top of my head. I'd have to hg bisect ... presuming I'm able to reproduce the bug.
I should be able to get to this next week (along with bug 738709).

I haven't been able to reproduce the bug with Aurora on 10.6.x and 10.7.x, with an older and the most recent Java plugin versions, using the latimes.com examples. It also isn't happening on the Nightly.
I'd bet this is a dup of bug 738709, and was fixed along with it.
I'm unable to reproduce on Aurora 14 as well (while I could do so consistently before). Untracking for that version.
The page is still slow as hell (there's a ton of fun perf stuff on that page), but its not hanging on the latest nightly for me either.

I have tested this issue on Mac OS X 10.7, 10.8 and 10.11 with the latest Firefox release (47.0) and the latest Nightly (50.0a1-20160615030209) and haven't manage to reproduce it.
When opening the web page provided in the description, the content is loaded and the browser doesn't hang.
Can you please retest this using the latest Firefox release and the latest Nightly build (https://nightly.mozilla.org/) and report back the results? When doing this, please use a new clean Firefox profile, maybe even safe mode, to eliminate custom settings as a possible cause (https://goo.gl/PNe90E).
Considering the fact that I cannot reproduce this and the fact that the reporter did not answered to my request until now, I will mark this as Resolved-Incomplete.
If anyone can still reproduce it, feel free to reopen the issue and provide more information.
