Steps to reproduce:
Start Firefox in normal mode
Switch to private mode
Switch back to normal mode
Open new tab (click on the (+) sign or Ctrl+T)
Actual results:
New tab wouldn't open, mouse-wheel click on a link opens a new window instade of a new tab
Expected results:
New tab should open, mouse wheel click on a link should open it in a new tab
i've been seeing this problem since many releases now

the problem reproduces randomly, i will update the bug summary as soon as i have the correct steps

This problem does not seem reproducible now that Firefox has switched to per-window private browsing.

indeed the latest version does fix the problem.
