The join messages should only show the nickname and not hostmask etc of the joining person by default, because for most people this is irrelevant information.

Actual: jb [jb!Daily@moz-A2A3C9E6.vlan402.asr1.cdg3.gblx.net] entered the room.
Expected: jb entered the room.
I tend to agree with you, the information was added to match what libpurple did while replacing the libpurple implementation of IRC with JS version for Instantbird...

In Instantbird we've slightly changed this message [1] (but I don't think it's propagated to comm-central yet) to no reshow the nick, so it would be:
jb [Daily@moz-A2A3C9E6.vlan402.asr1.cdg3.gblx.net] entered the room.

I agree though, showing it is of interest to only a few people and overly exposes the protocol to the users. This information is also available via the tooltips for those interested.
