Steps to reproduce:

1. Download files from the internet using firefox
2. Attempt to open/install/extract them files from windows explorer


Actual results:

1. Nothing happens
2. The file icon shows a blank window instead of what it should be.


Expected results:

1. Open/install/extract the file(s)

Note: I am able to open/install/extract the file(s) only if i exit the "firefox.exe" windows process from the windows task manager OR restart windows.

this works for me with Firefox11 and all versions before and after
Does it work if you change browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone to false in about:config ?
In that case your installed AV Software locks the file.
