Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0 Build ID: 20120312181643 Steps to reproduce: I have two Imap accounts in Thunderbird, both with multiple folders. One account is mostly inactive, so I leave the folders collapsed in the folder pane. I hit N or click on "Move to the next unread message". Actual results: It moves to the next unread message, but also expands the collapsed folder (which doesn't contain any unread messages). Expected results: The collapsed folder should have stayed collapsed.

(In reply to murdoch.duncan from comment #0) When I press 'n' to go to next unread message, it first asks "Advance to next unread message in foldername?". You should get the same window.

No, several years ago I turned that off. I thought the behaviour of no dialog was now the default, because I didn't spot it as an option in the preferences anywhere. Can you try in Thunderbird's -safe-mode ?

Safe mode does appear to fix it. I was going to try disabling the extensions one at a time to see if one of them was causing it, but the problem seems to have gone away now, even when I run in regular mode. I'll post again if it comes back...
