Steps to reproduce:

Fresh install of Windows 7 x64, ATI card, but also happens on a different computer with Windows 7 x86 and an Nvidia card.
Tested with and without "HW acceleration" for the Flash plugin, with different Flash versions - including of course the current one (11.2.202.228).
Tested to happen with both Firefox 11 (stable build) and Firefox 14.0a1 . Did not happen with 3.6.28
** Did not happen in other browsers (IE 9, Google Chrome)
(Tested with fresh Firefox installations; no local/roaming profiles, addons or plugins. Just Shockwave Flash).
(No malware reported by Microsoft Essentials with up-to-date definitions, Firewalls always in place, yada-yada...)

I start Firefox, maximize the browser window and go straight to youtube.com. Then I click on any video - although the issue seems to be more repeatable on certain videos or channels, like e.g. http://www.youtube.com/user/TheYoungTurks
After the video starts playing, I right click on the Windows 7 taskbar and toggle the checkbox "Auto-hide the taskbar".


Actual results:

Provided the Firefox window was maximized before the page started loading, Firefox usually crashes, or specifically the Flash plugin crashes.
Both the Firefox.exe and the plugin-container.exe processes seem to show low CPU usage, unlike other Flash crashes that I've seen before.
If I wait the time specified in "dom.ipc.plugins.timeoutSecs" or kill the "plugin-container.exe" process, I get a crash message on the Youtube player window and I can resume normal browsing.


Expected results:

The browser window should have resized without crashing the Youtube player.

Can you provide crash IDs (browser and plugin sides) from about:crashes?
Does it happen in Safe Mode (see http://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe%20Mode)?
Does it happen with a new profile (see http://support.mozilla.org/kb/Managing-profiles)?

I noticed that the bug only occurs when the browser window is maximized even before loading the video, and then the window tries to increase a little in size to fill the gap created by the taskbar when it hides.

Certainly. I made a couple, each on a different computer, and both with new profiles:

Yes.

Yes, as I just pointed out. It happens on my existing profiles, on new profiles, and even on a completely new installation of Firefox with nothing other than Flash installed.

Please try with the latest Flash version and provide crash IDs after the timeout, not by killing plugin-container.exe.

These ones are made with a fresh installation of Firefox 11 rather than the last beta, but it makes really no difference at all.
Also, made with the latest Flash version (11.2.202.233), after waiting for the timeout:

I was looking this morning into this problem for a while, and I concluded that I only get this crash with Flash 11.1 or more recent versions, up to the latest one. With any Flash 10.x version I haven't got a single one of these.

Also, I found the problem not just in Youtube.com, but also in websites with embedded Youtube videos, such as:

BTW, on the second website I get an error message after waiting for the timeout, I don't know if it is really helpful or not:
