User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0 Build ID: 20120312181643 Steps to reproduce: Run FF 11 in windows 8 Consumer Preview with NVidia graphics using the win8 driver from Nvidia. Actual results: I have two desktop PCs with identical MOBOs and processors running Win8CP, one has an NVIDIA GT220 graphics card and is on WiFI, the other is on integrated AMD 3000 graphics and wired connection. The one with NVidia card shows odd artifacts around the close/minimise/maximise gadgets top right in Firefox (actually fragments from elsewhere on the display window), often these are obscured by a white box the exact size of the three gadgets. There are also oddities in tab colouring with several tabs being "highlighted" and there is also odd tab and button colour behaviour when mousing over certain areas of some websites (esp. gmail). The other machine seems rock solid with no artifacts. Other programs seem to run fine, inc. Opera, IE10 and Chrome running gmail. I suspect the NVIDIA drivers or how firefox is coded. For reference the mobo is ASUSTeK Computer INC. M3A76-CM Expected results: Normal display of tabs, gadgets and web page buttons. This shot does show oddities along the tab line inc. the gadgets. I am not sure if the whiting out of the gadgets is specific to the gadgets or just luck, I have seen a similar sized and shaped piece of white on the same line but not over the gadgets. Can't show the effects in gmail without revealing my address unfortunately. Have not reported this to NVidia, seems only FF affected. GG
>Have not reported this to NVidia, seems only FF affected. it's most likely a driver bug. Disabling the hardware acceleration in Firefox (options/advanced) should fix it.
Yes, unchecking use hardware acceleration fixed the problem. Quite surpised to find no other progs apparently using hardware accel but this does appear to be the case for this driver. Ironically WebGL works fine with FF with hardware accel off, no other browser runs it at all (Ok I didn't check Chromium) with Nvidia on win8. On AMD chrome does and it is the only one. I will raisae a bug with Nvidia. George
