I answer Mozilla webmaster email. I've got a user that gets the "Did you know..." bar every time Firefox opens. He has answered Yes or No every time, but it won't stop appearing. Does anyone know the preference in about:config that can stop it? Thanks in advance.

That looks like the same issue that you always get a upgrade page. Can the user save other preferences like for example a changed homepage ? -> http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Preferences%20are%20not%20saved?s=preferences+saved&r=0&e=es&as=s

You can see the preferences in about:config Firefox 11 contains this preference entry : - browser.rights.version = 3 The browser will now set a new preference entry if you close the infobar: - browser.rights.3.shown=true A new update in the future may rise the number to 4 - browser.rights.version = 4 and the result is this new entry if you close the infobar: - browser.rights.4.shown=true This can only fail if the preference "browser.rights.3.shown=true" is not saved. The infobar contains a button "Know your rights" button and a "x" button. The preference to never show this again is written with both buttons.
So the browser.rights.version pref will also stop, "Did you know that Firefox is a non-profit organization?" They are not having an issue with "Know your rights".

I assume that you mean this info bar that should only be displayed once after an uptdate. This is the same as the "know your rights" infobar.

This is the same as the "know your rights" infobar. Actually, the "info bar" comes up twice that I've seen. Once to ask if you know Mozilla is nonprofit, and then again to "Know your rights", although it doesn't happen that way on every install, so it may only be for a new install.

I created a new Firefox profile and that is equal to a new installation. With Firefox11 you get three things at startup: - Firefox asks if you want to set it as default browser - Firefox loads http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/11.0/firstrun/ - The infobar from my screenshot is shown I don't believe that we have another additional infobar with "non-profit" You can ask the user to create a new, additional profile : http://support.mozilla.org/kb/Managing%20profiles This new profile is empty (no bookmarks/passwords/addons) but it should fix the issue. You can easily transfer the bookmarks manually: start old profile, ctrl+shift+b, Import&Backup, Backup, start new profile and Import from file. Passwords are addons are a different story. With a working sync setup you can restore more (Bookmarks, Passwords, History) This will be easier in the future (FF14+). Firefox will ask if it should transfer the data automatically to the new profile.

Regarding the pref, browser.rights.version, what are the value options?

Finally getting it to appear, the question is on the What's New page, not an info bar. Thanks for your suggestions Matti. Closing bug.
