Looks like there were multiple bugs with this in the past, but its back again. Please do whatever you did to fix it (see bug 688793, bug 672278), as this is blocking me from uploading Lightning which needs to be reviewed and released this Tuesday.
I can't reproduce this right now using https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/developers/addon/validate

Can you screenshot what you're seeing?
Attached file Lightning 1.4 Linux
Also happens for me using https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/developers/addon/validate with all Lightning 1.4 packages. Here is an example xpi that causes the error for me.

It happens somewhere around 1.8 mb, so maybe your test extension was too small?
Excellent, thank you. A 502 proxy error is going to be an IT bug.

The problems earlier was gunicorn redirecting to non-ssl internally. Jeremy fixed that. I suspect this is also related to the gunicorn switch.

I'm reducing this to critical because we don't need to wake anyone up at 7am on a Sunday. We can up it to blocker again on Monday if it's still around.

This already paged oncall. Anything Major and above will cause this bug to page. I'm pushing it down based on your comment above, feel free to bump up if needed.

I'm hitting this too. I've tried four times in the last 24 hours and all four attempts failed with 'Your add-on failed validation with one error. Received an empty response from the server; status 502.'

Same here. It would be great if you could please treat this as a high-priority bug.

The timeout for guincorn was set to the default (30 seconds) which seemed a bit too low when uploading large files. I have gone ahead and bumped this to 90 seconds which seems to have fixed the issue. Please verify.

I have the same problem, after uploading addon server returns 1 error - Received an empty response from the server; status: 502. My package have ~8MB.
Does it throw 502 after waiting 90 seconds?
Uploading gets about 90s. I've checked twice and 1st time was 90s and 2nd 78s. I measured time from selecting file till it was 100% upload.
Unfortunately the problem is not solved for me. :(

I'm trying to update OldFactory theme, which is about 8 MB in size. My upload speed is rather slow, so it takes me about 3 minutes to get to 90%, and then it aborts every time with "Received an empty response from the server; status: 502".

Please can you push the timeout even higher, since not everyone has DSL 16000?
Update: I've reduced the filesize now to 4.5 MB, by converting a lot of pngs to jpgs. It takes now only about 100 seconds to upload the whole theme, but I still get the error at about 95% of the upload.
Problem is not solved for me either.

I have an even smaller file that fails consistently, in the 700kb range. The upload attempts get to 90% or even 100% before aborting with the 502 error.

It should be noted however, that I am on 56k dialup, so I have a tremendously slow upload speed.
We've added some buffering on the load balancer. Can you try again and let us know how it goes?
Yes, now the upload worked, thanks! :)
Upload worked for me, too. Thanks very much!
