From Bugzilla Helper: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; 0.8.1) BuildID: 2001040404 Esc should stop animated gifs from animating. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Load the page 2. Notice the animated banner at the top. Hit Esc to stop the animation. 3. Notice that the animation continues. Actual Results: The gif continues animating. Expected Results: The gif should have stopped animating. This used to work in older builds (as recently as a couple weeks ago), and it worked in Netscape 4.x as well. Also, I just guessed on the component of "ImageLib" -- perhaps it's something else.

This is a dupe of bug 74169. (user pref "image.animation_mode" ignored). From the 3. comment in that bug : "Even worse, you can't manually stop the animation which ESC." *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 74169 ***

Stopping animations by clicking the Stop-button is how it is done in NC4.* This has nothing to do with user-prefs for how animations are cycled or not.
oops.. the broken stop-button is driving me nuts. I read stop instead of esc.
