We want a way to more clearly differentiate between social and search stacks. Stuart has suggested we do this by adding a "People" or "Search" icon to each item in the stack list. Assigning to Ian for icons, setting as M3.
Implementation-wise, we would need to capture the type of stack at creation and include it with the other meta-data (i.e. alongside title, url, thumbnail_key etc.) in each API that deals with stack objects.
Created attachment 618235 [details] Mockup of sidebar Here's a mockup that describes how we would place the icons next to the stacks. Note also the placement of favicons next to the page titles, which would be great to have as well :)
And here are the assets for the above icons! http://cl.ly/0U2l340l3P1I1O2N1q35
what if we referred to searches as topics and used a different icon for them instead?
Here are some updated icons: http://cl.ly/1U022P3Q400q1z1t0o1v Included are icons for - Topics (used to be searches) - People - Apps (for when we implement this)
We're going to need to know what kind of stack a stack is when it comes back from lattice
You can follow progress in https://bitbucket.org/mozillapancake/pancake/changesets/tip/branch(%22drawer-icons%22). So far, we have search icons with retina CSS. If the site has a favicon.ico in the root directory, that is displayed as well.
Fixed by https://bitbucket.org/mozillapancake/pancake/changeset/e80ca465286b. During design discussions, it was pretty much unanimously voiced that the term "search" is better than "topic". For this reason, I've stuck with the original magnifier icon.
