There is currently no way (that I can find in the UI) for a user to examine the certificate for the imaps/pops/smtps server they are connected to. Given that some users might want to verify the certification path or actual certificate in use for a particular server (especially in light of recent security flaws at Certificate Authorities), could a mechanism please be added that is similar to the one that has been in place for Firefox via the Page Info->Security->View Certificate UI? Because the individual connections may not last very long, such a mechanism might need to cache some of the more recently seen certificates. Thanks!

As mentioned in Bug 878749 , it should also be possible to know which symmetric cipher was used on a specific socket (plus the remote-IP).
