I am able to reproduce the issue from Bug 740335 when the page loads - a delay in displaying content until a certain amount of the page is loaded but I am always seeing checkerboarding when panning the new page while loading. 
Can you please give more info on device, os and pages you seen this bug on?

I used for testing an HTC Desire running Android 2.2 and the latest Nightly/15.0a1 2012-04-25

I think I see this happening with this page: http://people.mozilla.com/~mwargers/tests/background_gradients.html
Which I guess is caused, because text inputs use gradients and there a lot of text inputs on that page.

I'm not able to reproduce this issue on Martijn page (http://people.mozilla.com/~mwargers/tests/background_gradients.html) or any other site that I tried.

Marijn, can you please provide some STR if you can reproduce again.

Well, I can reproduce with the str from comment 0 and that url, using the Samsung Galaxy SII and current trunk build. Does http://people.mozilla.com/~mwargers/tests/background_gradients.html show up immediately for you?

Issue reproducible on Nightly 16.0a1 2012-06-18 on HTC Desire running Android 2.2. 
Steps:
1) Load cnn.com
2) Load http://people.mozilla.com/~mwargers/tests/background_gradients.html (http://goo.gl/pzRzU)
3) While the page loads, scroll.

The issue seems very similar or at least related to Bug 740335.
