List Name: mozilla.mh-labs List Admin: email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com Short Description: Lista para el área de Labs de Mozilla Hispano Long Description: Justification / Special Instructions: We need a list for Mozilla Hispano Labs area, to coordinate projects and don't overflow the community one.
Talking on IRC, maybe if we are starting to create mailing lists for Mozilla Hispano, the best list name structure should be mozilla.hispano.listname In this case: mozilla.hispano.labs I used the other one because we have a private list mozilla.mh-miembros instead of mozilla.hispano.miembros Regards.
Some thoughts and observations: The existing Mozilla Labs forums are only available as Google Groups :-| There would be an argument for being consistent with them, but I think it's definitely better to set up full forums. Those forums are named mozilla.labs, and mozilla.labs.*. Up to now, mailing lists for regional groups have gone in mozilla.community - so mozilla.community.uk, mozilla.community.greece etc. This is a bit different because, as I understand it, Mozilla Hispano covers all Spanish-speaking communities, but they aren't geographically adjacent. Still, I think a general mailing list would be either mozilla.community.spanish or mozilla.community.hispano. I'm not entirely sure we want a new top-level section for each language in which Mozilla operates, but if we did, I think we'd want to use language codes so people knew what language the discussion would be in. We already use those in mozilla.dev.l10n.*. So having thought about all that, I'd suggest: mozilla.labs.hispano to fit in with the other Mozilla Labs groups. If you are planning to create more Spanish-speaking groups in the near future, I'd probably go with mozilla.es.labs. Gerv
Thanks for the comments Gerv. The only problem I see with mozilla.labs.hispano is that could be confusing for Labs guys. mozilla.es.labs could be tricky since "es" is for Spain, and Mozilla Hispano is for all Spanish speaking countries.
"es" has two meanings - it's the ISO 639 code for "Spanish": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ISO_639-1_codes and the ISO 3166 code for "Spain": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-1 Many other two-letter codes are used in both standards. What connection does Mozilla Hispano Labs have with Mozilla Labs? Gerv
For now, Mozilla Hispano Labs is a independent community effort to create new thing with the Spanish community, Felipe (who is in change of this area) can give you a better overview, but for now our projects are independent from Mozilla Labs.
Gervase, We know about the fact that "es" is the ISO code for the spanish language nut for political, historical and geografical reasons "hispano" is a word that makes everyone in the > 15 countries where spanish is spoken happier... and our group is already called mozilla hispano so we are sticking to that. About the objective: Our objective is to share the open web technologies with all the developers in the spanish speaking word. MH Labs does developments to show easy examples of what can they do. We also do development engagement, internal development for MH and incourage and help other developers to do their projects. Lipe

If you are planning to create > more Spanish-speaking groups in the near future, I'd probably go with > mozilla.es.labs. > I would suggest mozilla.hispano.labs, as it's the "Labs" section of Mozilla Hispano, and not the "Hispano" section of Mozilla Labs. We don't necessarily help on Mozilla Labs projects, and also have our own. Regarding codes, as a rule of thumb use "es" only when referring strictly to Spain. It's a complicated term as Felipe stated, with more than 500 years of background :)

Maybe a lengthy name, but could work if mozilla.hispano is not an option.
I don't want to set up a new top-level "mozilla.hispano" for mozilla.hispano.labs and then just have a single group in there for ages. It looks silly :-) Do Mozilla Hispano think they might be needing some additional lists in the near future? Gerv

And yes, we will be using more mailing in the future as our group grows and need to separate different topics. Regards
So then mozilla.mh-miembros should be converted to mozilla.hispano.miembros which is OK for me if it doesn't break anything ;) And yes, we'll create soon more lists, at least one to migrate our google group (mozilla.hispano.general).
So, to sum up, is mozilla.hispano.labs possible? If so, please create it. (We will handle the other lists/issues in other bugs)
Yes. Over to server-ops for creation of mozilla.hispano.labs. Gerv

Hi, Are we still waiting for google?
Google groups says so: "There is no group named “mozilla.hispano.labs”." So still waiting on them. They are working on re-writing the groups intake process and it is a very slow and manual labor for them. We have no ETA from them when certain groups will show up online. Just keep checking.
This is now present: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/mozilla.hispano.labs :-) Gerv
