Wait, are you trying to modify the profiling branch? You should not do that. You should instead add code to the configure script which disables elf-hack whenever --enable-profiling is used, so that people who do local profiling builds would get the same result.
As an aside, I don't take *any* patches on the profiling branch. Any desired changes should depend on MOZ_PROFILING. :-)
