Need some help doing a quick mockup of the WN page for 13.
Brief can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yP991n9tmrAoFQdZ36zcaBPUivF_t_ltPNa8MwV6fTU/edit#
Can use any video box as FPO, but that work is already being done in a separate bug.
Final copy will be decided in 749817 and then added here.

Also, this needs to be localized, so would be great to have the design by eod 5/11 if possible?

Thanks Lomo. It seems like the design work is pretty minimal, right? If you're just asking for an update to the copy and replacing the video box with a new one... then It doesn't sound like much work on our end. Am I understanding the scope correctly?
May I ask who is producing the video? has the creative team been looped in? (may I see it?) is that going to suffice in communicating the information you need (in addition to the copy) or did you need anything else designed?
Assigning to Lee, Thanks.

That is correct. Also need copy from matej, but agree its minimal.

Rainer and Spencer are doing the video. It's almost complete and Grace has the drafts if you'd like to see it.

Outside of the video and copy I don't think we need anything else designed--just want to make sure the page looks good since this is the first one we've done in 3 months ;)

Thanks LoMo. I would definitely like to see the video :) please...
If the concept is pretty much the same (headline, sub-head, video box) I think it will be fairly similar to what you see on that page right now. it's just a matter of updating the content. I've seen a few different variations of this page , but they are only slight variations. So if you like what you see there now, then... we should be good :)

Tara: it will be based on this with an added segment on the home page redesign: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hh-VUhZxw7I&feature=youtu.be
It will be updated with GA branding (that's what they're also working on now).
As for the current design, I would prefer that the video sat on the right side and have the copy on the left side of the page, more like the layout we did with the older WN pages. But I think it depends on the copy a bit--I'm just worried that the amount of text we have in the design here:http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/10.0/whatsnew/ feels long and not something people would want to read. I also worry that the layout aforementioned is better for brand video than a feature video.

Thanks.
Yah, I see what you're saying. What's the status on the copy? I don't think the copy is that much, personally... and it helps set the stage for the video. Given the current canvas (the white block) I'm not sure if there is space to place the video to the right like you suggested. But Lee can help figure it out.
Since the video will be very informative (moving pictures are worth thousands of words!), hopefully we won't need too much copy to set it up. I'd hate to break the (newish) center-justified layout that we're trying to establish here so soon. I also think that the centered, minimalist-in-content style had responsive/mobile in mind, so we should consider that if we can.

Let's go with this copy:

In terms of design, lets try the vertical design and we can go from there.

I like the look of the page, nice work.
A thought:
Learn more about the New Tab feature »
>
> Learn more about our redesigned home page »
These links don't feel like links on the page (actually, I believe the second one is missing. How can we improve that? Add blue to the copy or something to make it stand out more? Also, the fact that its so close under the video also makes it easy to miss.

oh, oops - MyBadd. I thought "Learn more about the New Tab feature" was the caption for the video that explained the feature. I'll make them links!

Looks great. maybe the "learn more" should be above the video box. you can learnn more by watching the video and a hyperlink.
Another side note:
Those social sharing widgets look great, but there's a privacy concern around the default widgets and we should be using the mozilla social sharing project's version. Not sure how strict of a rule this is, but wanted to flag that. It's not quite as pretty but it's intended to protect users. What it does basically is hide those same sharing behaviors under a button that says "share" that you have to click on before those widgets are revealed.

Hey Tara, I grabbed this universal share component from footers of some currently, 'standardized" One Moz pages. Have you seen any that differ from this format?

Looks good. Thanks. Though (sorry to nit) is there a reason why the links are to the right? sort of feels a little off balance to me. Would it not work on top of the video box? I'm sure you've tried that, just curious to know what your thought was behind the layout like this.

That's the right one. The "share" button would then reveal the widgets.. looks good. The previous mockup (comment 10) had a different one that's why I flagged it.

Agree--the page feels off balance to me too.

I thought it would be weird to introduce the big video - only to block the Play button by 2 secondary links. I also figured there would be concern about the 2 links getting lost underneath the main video, sandwiched by Keep in Touch and Keep it moving colored buttons. Placing the links to the right of the main video keeps them in context of the information we're highlighting, secondary to the video. I know it's not all center justfied, but if we look at the content hierarchically on the page, I think this makes sense.
Alternate solution: place 2 learn more links below the video, and place Share component back into the "Keep it" buckets or the footer

I think I prefer the alternate solution. Tara?

That sounds good to me. Thanks Lee!
I don't know how well the sharing widgets on these pages perform, or if it even makes sense to ask people to "share" something we're still trying to educate them about. So, yah I vote to push that back down. Another confusing piece to me is that if it goes down into the "keep it" blocks, it's not entirely clear what we're sharing since it's not attached to the video. Just a thought, but either way I prefer to focus on the video as first order of priority, then the links to learn more. So the alternate solution sounds good.
My last and final nit (take it or leave it!) is that I feel the padding between the video box and the copy "see the new features" is a little too much... creating a bit of disconnect for me. Just a nit.
