The menu which shows up when you click and hold a link in Fennec should have a "open tab" option. Current options are "Open link in new tab", "Share link" and Bookmark link". Often I find that I accidentally manage to click and hold rather than click, as it's often hard to figure out where a thumb-touch-click is going to be delivered because my thumb is so much larger than the link I'm trying to click on. I often end up trying to click on a link (to open it directly), only to have this menu pop up, and so I have to click back and try again in order to achieve what I want. Adding an "open tab" option would stream line the UI, and make it more forgiving.

What is the behavior of 'Open tab'? Do you mean 'open link' in current tab?

Please consider adding this menu item, it is a major usability issue. When a page is not zoomed in, I long-press a link and expect an option to open the selected link in a new tab. While we are it, is it possible to show the selected URL in the menu as well, just like the stock browser?

The current URL is already shown in the popup menu, unless you mean something else. Also, didn't Ian/Madhava/Brad experiment with solving the issue here with the magnified view (fisheye lens thing) over the selected link (like iOS does)?

We currently only show the url if there is no title attribute on the link.
Right, I happened to choose a link where the URL did not show up (perhaps because it is too long?) For example, try the Android link (25MB APK) on http://nightly.mozilla.org/ This is on Beta 17.0

This small patch seems to work ... are we still interested in this?

Personally, I don't want to add this to the context menu. I'd rather find other ways to make "link tapping" easier.

Won't hurt my feelings :)

(In reply to Mark Finkle (:mfinkle) from comment #11) > If Ian agrees, let's close this bug. I do agree. Our context menus are too huge as it is, and I'd rather explore better ways of supporting link tapping on small links or densely clustered ones.
