Users are reporting having to log in to getpersonas.com several times a day even when the "remember me" box is checked each time they log in. Not sure if the issue is related to a bug reported over a year ago: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=629956

I'd like to add to Amy's comment. Every time I close the getpersonas.com window and reopen it a little later I have to log back into my account by typing in my information. Even though it doesn't help I still check the little box. This has been happening since last Monday, the 23rd. Because I'm a personas reviewer I have to re-log into the dash about 10 times a day now. This problem first happened in January of 2011. Please refer to that bug report, 629956, and it's solutions for assistance. Many thanks, Lisa

Hi all, I'm also getting this behaviour. Almost every time I close Firefox (or suspend my computer) I am getting logged out from getpersonas.com. (I should note that I originally sent this complaint to the getpersonas.com contact address, but was forwarded here). I'm using Mageia Linux 2/Cauldron with firefox-10.0.4-1.mga2 , and it's been happening for a while. Regards, -- Shlomi Fish

It happens to me even when I don't close Firefox but every single time I just bring up a new details window for a different persona from the one I was just looking at, even I don't close the window of the previous persona's details page. And even though I'm still logged in every time I try to rotate to the next persona it forces me to log in again even though I've already clicked the enable rotation button, the minute I move to a different screen in Personas it logs me out and I have to log in all over again. And I'm using Firefox on Windows 7 as my primary browser but even if I change to a different browser it happens. Also on one of our older computers using Firefox and WindowsXP it also happens each time with that set up as well. So no matter what the computer and browser configuration is that I use the same thing still happens every time!

Can we get an "importance" upgrade? I realize this logging-in problem is lower on the priority list compared to some of the other persona issues currently happening, i.e., "user counter", but it's affecting hundreds of thousands of users on an hourly basis. It's been ongoing for over a half of a month now. Can anyone spare some time to look into this...please? Many thanks.

getpersonas has no active developers - the site is unmaintained unless there is a security issue. The site is on the (long) road to being merged into AMO so resources are targeted there instead of getpersonas. Not the answer you wanted, but hopefully better than silence.
Component: Public Pages → getpersonas.com

No, not the answer I was hoping for...but indeed appreciated and understandable. Thank you, Wil, for sharing this information. It gives us non-AMO & getpersonas people a better understanding of the main focus and resources available.

I second Lisa's request as it's actually been going on longer than that. I know that I have been experiencing it for OVER 7 MONTHS now but figured I was the one and didn't know how to turn in a bug tag for it, until Amy turned one in for me.

I hate to appear as totally untech. savvy as I truly am, but what is AMO? Could someone who happens to be a user of Personas but is also a techy type work on it or does it have to be someone specifically employed by Mozilla FireFox?

Hi Sound oasis, I am going to respond to your Comment 7. For some reason getting logged out of Firefox has not been as tough on me as it seems to be with most people. Before I started having problems with getting logged out, I had to delete 4 Personas cookies every single day that I logged in. If I didn't do that, it would take me 3 minutes to get logged in and usually the connection would time out on me. At the current time, I don't have to delete cookies anymore. When I log in, I get in immediately! Although I get logged out at times during the day, I find it simple to log right back in. (Perhaps I'm not getting logged out as frequently as other people are, because it hardly bothers me at all. In your case Sound Oasis, I notice that you are using Firefox 7. I think we are on Firefox 12 now. Maybe it would help you if you could upgrade to the latest version of Firefox. I'm surprised that you seemed to have been experiencing the logging out problem for so much longer than everyone else. Perhaps your Firefox 7 status is the reason. CollieSmile :)

Oh fudge! I think that I misread Comment 3, Sound Oasis. I thought you said you were on Firefox 7 and I see that it says you are using Firefox on Windows 7. Sorry about that....

Soundoasis, to answer your Comment#8...AMO stands for addons.mozilla.org There is work in progress to merge getpersonas.com site with AMO. I believe one has to be employed by Mozilla Firefox to work on the problems at hand. You're awesome to volunteer your help though! You can check out what AMO has developed for us so far using this link...https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/personas/....just copy & paste into your browser window. Lisa

Hi Lisa, I just tried out the link in Comment 11 and I hit a dead end page. I tried it twice. Maybe this link will work better. Lets hope so, anyway... If it doesn't, it will be the second time I've stuck my foot in my mouth in one day... lol (I wonder if your link didn't work because of the dots after it?) https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/personas/ CollieSmile :)

If resources are targeted at AMO instead of getpersonas.com, then why has AMO been broken for 3 weeks now? You can see it on the main personas page on AMO at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/personas/ where the Recently Added personas have been stuck showing "Apr 21, 2012". None of the new personas approved since then have shown up on AMO. I realize this bug report was meant for a different issue, but if there is a new bug report for this issue, it hasn't been shared with reviewers or in the personas forum.

BrianZ...I posted this newest problem on this thread at the forum. https://forums.mozilla.org/addons/viewtopic.php?p=7116#p7116 On Wednesday, the 9th, I also notified Amy and asked her if we could get a bug report for this specific problem. She has been ill and unable to get to it. But in the meanwhile another problem has cropped up at our AMO persona galleries. Personas are no longer posted in any order whatsoever. Older ones were posted first, showing up on our 1st pages but now old ones are mixed in with new ones and not by user count numbers either. The user count numbers at AMO are frozen from several weeks ago and not at zero count like our personas at the getpersonas.com site. I did email Amy this morning and suggested we nix the idea about getting a bug report for the problem you just pointed out because I feel numerous problems are going to be popping up before the team puts finishing touches on the AMO persona galleries. I have to believe the team is aware of these new problems and will straighten them out in due time.

Hi all, I'm new here, so I hope I'm going about this the right way. My log in problems with persona have only started very recently, yet is extremely frustrating as it prevents the rotator from working. Also, whenever I click on the rotator icon now to switch to another persona, it informs me that I have to install Personas Plus, which I have, and despite showing me on my add-ons page that it is use, Firefox does not seem to recognise. I use Windows XP and latest firefox.

Since the above, I have found a solution which seems to be working. Remove Personas and Personas Plus, then reinstall the both, the latter first, followed by Personas Switcher.

I don't see a way to uninstall Personas and Personas Plus. How do I go about doing that?
Comment 19•12 years ago

If you go to Tools and click on add-ons, the personas and persona plus should be listed in the extensions, with the following buttons; options, remove or disable. Both require restart, so uninstall both, click the restart, and when Firefox is back up, click the get add-ons type personas in the search area, and re-install from there. Although my log in problem to personas persists, I have managed to resolve the rotation issue this way, and have removed Personas Switcher and Personas Shuffler, so I can just use my favourites.

Hi Wil, (In reply to Wil Clouser [:clouserw] from comment #5) > getpersonas has no active developers - the site is unmaintained unless there > is a security issue. Is there any way that we could fasten the process? Is the source for addons.mozilla.org available online? I'm a programmer and may likely be able to help. This getpersonas.com logout problem is very irritating. Regards, -- Shlomi Fish

That is out of date. http://zamboni.readthedocs.org/en/latest/ is the latest

This problem is happening because getpersonas specifies an expiry on the "session" cookie of 7 hours. This should be increased to at least a few days or to the duration of the user's session.

Actually Matt that's not entirely true, Get Personas logs me out anytime I even change the webpage that I'm looking within seconds of logging in at even if I still have the personas page open still. Also, at times when it doesn't show that it's logged me out it still acts as if I've been logged out denying me access to features that you need to be logged in to use, however, it won't let me log in again because it still shows me as logged in. Other times, it logs me out the minute I click on the details of a persona and when I try to look at the next one I have to log in again. And I'm talking literally only a few seconds between looking at one and going to the next one.

soundoasis: That sounds more like you have cookies disabled or you're using an add-on that is removing or blocking cookies for the site. Can you try running Firefox in Safe Mode and reporting whether the problem still occurs?
