I'd like to request two updates to the In the News feed on the mozilla.org homepage.

1. It looks like the feed is no longer updating...the most recent post on blog.mozilla.org isn't appearing. Perhaps this is related to the change from .com?

2. We'd like to pull in content from this blog as well: http://blog.mozilla.org/theden/. I think having the info coming in from a couple of sources will keep that section feeling fresh.

Mike, can we get this resourced and up on the site in the next couple of weeks (if not sooner)?
Version: Firefox 5 → unspecified
Marking for 2.6.
Target Milestone: Future → 2.6
Checking in on this...any updates?
Upping the priority since the content on there is getting stale. Steven can you take a look this week?

If this isn't a quick fix, we should just swap the links with the latest content and push asap, while figuring out a solution.

I can do a static update with the latest headlines, but I think we're waiting on IT to setup cron jobs. Will confirm.

Any reason why this bug was added to websites-security?
Yes, we are still working on making the feeds dynamic. It's mostly set up but there are a few issues. See:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=753566

Pulling in from multiple sources is a bit more complicated since we'll need to pull in each feed, and merge them manually making sure dates are kept correctly. We can probably do it though, but for now let's focus on getting it dynamic at least.

If IT is still a blocker, let's move forward with the static link updates.

Agreed. let's get this working, then iterate on pulling in multiple sources.
+1 on the static updates. Steven, do you need info from me as to which links to pull in? Let me know how I can help here.

Just the three most recent post on http://blog.mozilla.org/, or should it be The Den posts too?
Just the blog.mozilla.org posts should be fine for now. Thanks!

Update static headlines on home page (Bug 750912)
The production site has the most recent URLs now. Will leave this bug open to track getting dynamic updates.
Thanks!
Steven, James - do you guys have any timing as to when we can make this feed fully dynamic?

If my request to pull in info from multiple sources makes things too complicated then I'm glad to just focus on blog.mozilla.org for now. Mainly I just want to avoid us having to manually do the updates every time.

All the work is done, just need to figure out why it's not working on the dev site. The caching servers, python code, etc is all set up. I suspect the caching servers aren't working correctly, but once we figure that it we can roll it live.
Cool, thanks James. Keep us posted when you know more!
Hey do we need to loop in IT to get this resolved?

jlongster, Rik, do you have a solution you're working on? can you give an update?
Target Milestone: 3.0 → 3.5
We discussed this in the moz.org meeting. We need to change the approach to make it happen, this is the discussion happening in bug 753566.

Also, this is not a priority given all the current tasks. We have a manual way to update the feeds.

I'd like to bump this back up the priority list...it's now been 5 months since the bug was filed.

Mike, what's the best next step?
I added this bug to the ready backlog and we'll prioritize and assign in the sprint planning meeting 10/3
