Double-clicking an ftp folder should expand the folder (this is how most other 
expandable trees work).  Currently, double-clicking an ftp folder expands the 
folder and then makes that folder the root.

See also bug 64719, "Must doubleclick to download in FTP; should be single-
click" (which I'm not sure I agree with).

I disagree with this bug.  We should be able to single click on folder to have 
them show their contents.  A double clich should mean "open this folder as the 
parent".

Suppose we did what you are suggestion.  What would a single click on a 
directory do?

If we made double-click expand a folder (without jumping to it), a single click 
on a folder would select it, allowing you to drag multiple folders to your 
desktop, for example.

I think the current behavior is confusing.  Where else does single-clicking 
something expand it and double-clicking make its contents replace everything?

you can single click on a folder without expanding it.  If you click on the 
triangle, that is what expands the folder.

that's how it works as of Mozilla 1.0RC1, all plats.

If this is supposed to work some other way, new bug, preferably into whatever
component XUL lives.
