One of the Q2 goals for User Engagement is to create a Spanish version of The Den - blog.mozilla.com/theden

We were waiting for a localization Wordpress plug-in, but since there are no current plug-ins to pass security, we need to just create a separate instance of The Den.

The url should be: blog.mozilla.com/laguaridadefirefox

The Spanish name = La Guarida de Firefox (Image uploaded in bug)

Administrators: Carmen Collins, William Reynolds, Winston Bowden, Jessilyn Davis, Jane Finette

The blog would feature the One Mozilla blog "child" theme that The Den in EN features. It would have the share buttons, the right-hand widgets, etc. that The Den has.

I am working on getting the Den-specific blog strings translated. This is underway.

This project is (right now) a P2 on the WebDev priority list. If at all possible, it needs to launch by the end of June. 

Can we get the url/page created by May 24? That's two weeks for that part.

Can we get the blog "stood up" and ready to publish by June 11? That gives us two weeks to get things published and get the bugs worked out before the June email goes out on June 28 (which will point to the content on La Guarida de Firefox.

Please advise.

The Den currently uses old-style social sharing buttons that they don't want to lose by switching to One Mozilla, so I'm going to whip up a minimal child theme for The Den that keeps the legacy buttons for now. It's kind of a hack just to get The Den switched to One Mozilla sooner, and in the near future we'll be able to integrate our standard social sharing widget and will no longer need a special child theme for any of the dens.

I can have the child theme done next week, and I'll open another bug to track that and set it as a blocker for this one. As soon as the child theme is ready we can push it to prod, activate it for the Den, and set up the Spanish den using the same code.

Happy to loop in PR, but they already know about/worked with us on The Den, and this is just a localized version. I just don't want to hold up the process. Do we still need their sign-off?

Our current guidelines just state that PR must 'ack' any new blogs added to blog.mozilla.org, I've emailed press@m.c to try to get a response asap, and I'll try to clarify this particular point once I get a response

Blog has been created and currently has the default WP theme set.

All the requested users have been added as Administrators.

Once the theme is ready, we can get that applied.

Craig - do we need another bug to track the changes from the EN version to the ES version? I ask, because here are the translated blog strings from the way-awesome Hispano team. I'll put them here, but let me know if I should put them somewhere else

No, I don't think we need a separate bug. All of that translated content can be handled in WordPress, it's not tied to the theme. Once we get the blog set up we'll be able to put those strings into their proper places.

Nope, looks like we're all set. If there are any further pushes needed (bug fixes etc) we can file them separately. But the blog is up and running so I'm calling this resolved.
