Short Description:
Product suite built to garner greater community involvement in the Mozilla project

Long Description:
A discussion forum for the development of the Community Tools product suite. The product suite aims to greatly increase contributor participation in Mozillian products and projects.

Justification / Special Instructions:
Hi Aakash - is there a wiki page or some other details somewhere about this project?

Gerv
Summary: Discussion Forum: mozilla.communitytools.dev → Discussion Forum: mozilla.dev.community-tools
Oh, right - so you want to move technical discussion out of mozilla.mozillians, which has morphed its role into something wider?

Yeah
To go further, the plan is to post meeting notes and possible API and feature discussions here.
OK. :-)

We already have a mozilla.dev.tools newsgroup, which is lightly used. Why not use that? I like to try and avoid multiplying groups if there already exist groups with an appropriate remit.

I'd like to better focus the purpose of the newsgroup within the title. There's a lot of tools (dev, web, webapps, l10n, community, etc.) in the Mozilla Universe that might cause folks to come in with the wrong impression. I'd like to go forward with creating the new one if its alright with you.
Over to server-ops for creation of mozilla.dev.community-tools.

Now that it's moved to this bug, do I need to add any extra information to help get it queued?
Nope, I can get this created for you as-is. Will take a day or two for Google Groups and Giganews. I'll keep you posted.

Cool; thanks for the follow-up
Hey Michael, any updates here?
Yes, the list exists, https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/dev-community-tools but I don't see that Google Groups has picked it up yet. GigaNews has replied saying they added the list, though.

I'll email Google, as they should have picked it up by Tues/Wednesday, at least.
Fantastic; that helps a lot for now! How can I access to the administration interface?
https://lists.mozilla.org/admin/dev-community-tools is the admin UI. I've emailed you credentials.

We're past Tuesday/Wednesday, it'd be great for this to actually show up on Google Groups but I can't find it.
Also, I've sent two messages to the list, and both times gotten this error:

This is the mail system at host mx2.mail.corp.phx1.mozilla.com.

I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not
be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below.

For further assistance, please send mail to postmaster.

delete your own text from the attached returned message.

Ok, I've created the following Google Group:

Homepage: http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla-dev-community-tools
Group email: mozilla-dev-community-tools@googlegroups.com

Let's delete the mailing list that has already been created to reduce any future confusion.

per bug 837757, we want to get this setup natively as a Discussion Forum.

I've set up https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/dev-community-tools/ and emailed Giganews.

My test post from Google Groups just showed up on NNTP. Let the spice flow.

Thanks mburns! Should I file another bug to have this discussion forum added to the Forums page ( http://www.mozilla.org/about/forums/ )? Or should that be handled in this bug?

Depends on: 855071
Looks like everything is setup for it, just hasn't been added to http://viewvc.svn.mozilla.org/vc/projects/mozilla.org/trunk/about/forums/raw-ng-list.txt?view=co yet. I've sent Gerv a bug to confirm/add it.
