Any chance you could save that page (making sure you remove any personal information) and upload it somewhere? Seems one would otherwise need a vk.com account to test it.
no, i've signed out and the "welcome and login" page is still in serif

hmm.. In my v12 and v15.0a1 on OS X it displays the it in Tahoma (which is sans serif) - could I possibly get you to install this addon https://github.com/cers/font-inspector and check what font it actually picks for you? (it adds a "font" button to the developer tools)
maybe im doing it wrong, but

maybe its actually a bug, and its windows specific...
