The new compact header envelope area is way cool. However, if you have an email
with an empty subject, the entire subject field is not displayed -- this has two
side effects:

1) If the header area is in expanded mode, the twisty to switch between expanded
and one-line mode is no longer present/visible. (the fact that the subject line
is not displayed is probably OK, it's just the twisty that really matters)

2) If the header area is in one-line mode, the position of the
from/date/attachment fields jumps across to the left relative to messages that
do contain a subject. They should probably stay in the same position.

I'm using Linux 2001040805
yeah we should handle this case better than I currently do. fix should be a one
liner in some JS.

Looks okay to me using may08 commercial trunk build: mac OS 9.0 and win98.
Assume linux okay, too, but can't get proper library installed to run current
builds (ref bug 78874)
