User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:12.0) Gecko/20120429 Firefox/12.0 SeaMonkey/2.9.1 Build ID: 20120429011004 Steps to reproduce: Since SM 2.9.1 keeps locking up and sometime keeps any other program from functioning. I tried moving past emails to a different folder. On my first attempt I thought nothing happened because they were all still there. So I tried again, same result. After the third try I looked in the new folder and found that about 150 of 370 were copied three times. There were 3 of each file. Since this was a sub-folder of the "Inbox" thought maybe that was the issue. So I deleted that folder and created another sub-folder under a folder I created back in '09 that is labeled "Archives" and tried moving them to a folder I created last month "2012". I was able move 150 of 370 to "2012". Then tried moving the 220 files to "2012" twice but nothing was moved. I tried a third time holding the Shift key while trying, same result. Every time I click on "Inbox" [which now has 855 emails in it] progress the bar comes up and slow moves for several seconds. When I click on "Sent" [that has 1530 emails] it immediately loads, no progress bar. Actual results: see above Expected results: Move all files and not lock or slow down all other programs. I think this is a 2.9.1 bug. I'm considering installing 2.9 to see if that helps.
In the dialog, Edit → Preferences → Mail & Newsgroups → Network & Storage how are the "Disk Space" settings configured? (ticked y/n, how many MB) [ ] Compact folders when it will save _______ MB
Compact folders when... is checked and 20MB
I was finally able to move files in doing so I isolated one email that must/may be the cause cause of the problem. I cannot move or delete this email. More often now the email is basically locking up my machine while it processes email or email folders. I cannot even launch the Task Manager while in "lockup" after the "lockup" clears everything will then open. I about to dump the SeaMonkey email part of the program if I can this is very annoying have to wait up to a minute before I can do anything on my machine. I'm a type A personality and it is driving me nuts!!!!
Moving "files"? And what is "move"? Drag and Drop? Cut and Paste? Something else? This report is VERY unclear. @Reporter: Still a problem for you? If yes please: a) Contribute a problem related step by step instruction containing every key press and every mouse click how to reproduce your problem due to <https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/QA/Bug_writing_guidelines> (similar to report in Bug 1139273) b) Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots into a OOo or LibreOffice DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show (attach .png or PDF from source document) c) add information c1) concerning your Operating System (Version, Distribution, Language) c2) concerning your SM localization (UI language, Locale setting) c3) SM settings that might be related to your problems May be you should attach a pdf print of menu 'Help → Trouble shooting information” c4) how you launch SM (Double click on document? console? …) c5) Whether problem persists in safe mode without add-ons c6) everything else crossing your mind after you read linked texts d) POP3 or IMAP account? e) Your Email-Service-Provider (if not visible in (d))

Never confirmed by a second user, no response, so I close this one for now. @Reporter: Please feel free to reopen this Bug if you still can reproduce the problem with a current SeaMonkey version and a current OS and if you can contribute a step by step instruction how to reproduce the problem due to <https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/QA/Bug_writing_guidelines> (containing every key press and every mouse click) how to reproduce the problem reliably.
