Details
In an event dialog, if "timezone" is enabled, we can open the timezone dialog in which we could see a pretty world map.
However, in Thunderbird's option/preference dialog > Lightning (button),
Timezone tab only shows the selection bar without the pretty world map.
It seems like they don't call the same function to show up timezone selector "component".
It would be nice to show the pretty world map in option/preference dialog.

I'm not sure to understand the relationship of this bug and the other one. Do you mean that actually both are calling the same function but because of some bug, pref/option dialog doesn't display the world map?

Both bug reports contain the same enhancement request: use the graphical timezone picker in the preference dialog. Therefore your report was declared as a duplicate of the existing report.

I think that bug actually means that users could click on the map to choose/pick the timezone. Otherwise, there's nothing special in that bug because since the very beginning, choosing timezone has always been done via the drop-down list -- there was no world map but the map is purely for aesthetic reason.
However, this bug just requests a unified way to display timezone dialog (in pref and in event dialog), without having the possibility to click on the map to choose timezone.
I mean, we could do thing in two steps:
----> unified timezone dialog >---> clicking on the map to choose timezone >----

The unified timezone dialog is indeed the duplicate bug 302253, while the clicking is bug 700239.
