I have received a few Mozilla webmaster emails stating they are unable to connect to lxr.mozilla.org, although mxr.mozilla.org works. Is there a redirect that might have been broken?

I didn't even realize this name existed... yes, it's definitely broken as of today. Let's make this a 301 redirect to mxr.mozilla.org... I don't much care if we put the redirect on the MXR web cluster or on the static-redirect stuff... either way seems fine to me.

Don't know how long exactly, but I first responded to someone on Sat. or Sun. regarding it.
So lxr shouldn't be used. Please ask them to use mxr.mozilla.org that is the right domain name for this. lxr (the name) has been discontinued for 6 years now, though we were re-directing it till now. We've decided to stop that redirect, people can hit mxr.mozilla.org and get the same content. Thanks!

It seems that a redirect would be easier than locating (and correcting) all the links pointing to LXR, which will now fail.

The links are a mistake and should be fixed. We've redirected this for 6 years (and it should have never been redirected for that long in the first place).
Regardless, I would think the redirect would serve a purpose until the links can all be located and changed. Remember, this bug was only filed due to users reporting the links are not valid to the Mozilla webmaster email.
Having people report the links as dead might get them fixed. If we redirect, nobody will report them.
Good point, as long as everyone that finds one reports it. ;-)

Here is another page where links point to LXR. http://www.mozilla.org/rhino/examples.html
