Crash Data

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:12.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/12.0 Build ID: 20120420145725 Steps to reproduce: Go to http://www.stanxwords.com/today-newsday-crossword.html via bookmark. Play crossword puzzle. Leave http://www.stanxwords.com/today-newsday-crossword.html via bookmark for http://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/puzzles/daily-crossword. Actual results: FF 12.0 crashes approx. 50% of the time. Sometimes FF crash notification appears (I have always submitted the report). Other times Win 7 notification - program is not responding, wait or close - appears. Expected results: Approx. 50% of the time FF 12.0 goes to the next website normally. Have reinstalled FF 12.0 with no resolution. Because the crash only (so far) occurs after the above described sequence of events, I am thinking that the cause has something to do with the JAVA implementation in the http://www.stanxwords.com/today-newsday-crossword.html site.
Summary: After leaving this website, http://www.stanxwords.com/today-newsday-crossword.html, FF 12.0 will crash approx. 70% of the time. → After leaving this website, http://www.stanxwords.com/today-newsday-crossword.html, FF 12.0 will crash approx. 50% of the time.
The crash signatures are all different one of the crashes is bug 524961 and many of them are a few frames behind nsPluginInstanceOwner::Init The page is indeed using Java. Which Java version do you have installed ? You can see the version in about:plugins or tools/addons/plugins I tried it several times but can't reproduce this with FF12 and Java SE 7 U4

Java(TM) Platform SE 7 U4 Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.40.255 I apologize for clarifying the submitted data. None of the provided crash signature are related to this morning's crash in which FF simply stopped responding with the resulting Win 7 error message. I included the most recent FF crash signatures because they all involve the same/similar crash; ie, my usual morning ritual is playing several crossword puzzles, always in the same sequence, starting with http://www.stanxwords.com/today-newsday-crossword.html, and always followed by http://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/puzzles/daily-crossword. The crash, when it occurs, always comes at the transition from "stanxwords" to "washingtonpost". Appreciate your attention to this issue...
No crash here after using both puzzles (I like puzzles, these are hard) :) FYI, not related - but puzzles won't play/work with 'click-to-play' enabled. Using same jave on win6 x64 8gig ram win32 m-c Nightly build. (trunk) Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:15.0) Gecko/15.0 Firefox/15.0a1
On first pass, running thru the usual sequence of crossword websites did not cause the reported crash. Will continue using FF Safe Mode for the next few days and update status. Thx for this suggestion. The installed extensions disabled in Safe Mode are: Adblock Plus 2.0.3 Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon 0.3 BetterPrivacy 1.68 Freecorder Community Toolbar 3.12.2.3 NoScript 2.4.2 WOT 20120515
Had been running FF in Safe Mode the past two days with no problems. This morning started FF in normal mode. Had just finished playing crossword puzzle and had clicked on bookmark for Washington Post daily crossword puzzle. FF crashed immediately. UUID 0e872bbc-e50a-479c-acea-e21392120524 Have not observed any FF 12.0 crashes or other problems other than the what is reported here. I remain suspicious of something in http://www.stanxwords.com/today-newsday-crossword.html is causing the problem, either in FF or one of the installed extensions.
The next step is to let enabled only one extension and then test to see which one causes the problem.

Agree. Disabled: Adblock Plus 2.0.3 Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon 0.3 BetterPrivacy 1.68 Freecorder Community Toolbar 3.12.2.3 WOT 20120515 Enabled: NoScript 2.4.2
(In reply to bsubs from comment #10) > Enabled: > NoScript 2.4.2 So NoScript makes Firefox crashes on this website. Right?
I don't know yet. Most recent crash occurred with all installed extensions enabled. Now, after this most recent crash, I will run FF as stated above.
Ok... have visited the above noted crossword sites several times with ONLY NoScript 2.4.3 enabled - not problems. Today, I enabled Adblock Plus 2.0.3 (both NoScript 2.4.3 and Adblock Plus 2.0.3 enabled; no other add-ons enabled). 1. Played crossword at http://www.stanxwords.com/today-newsday-crossword.html. 2. Via bookmark, went to http://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/puzzles/daily-crossword 3. After completing most of the puzzle, FF crashed: bp-d5f67056-6229-4e6f-b62e-6f8d32120529 I am now disabling NoScript and will run FF for a few days with ONLY Adblock Plus 2.0.3 enabled.
Disabled NoScript 2.4.3 Clicked on "Restart Now" FF immediately crashed: http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-30c26332-cd69-49f6-b6ea-05e542120529
(In reply to bsubs from comment #14) > Disabled NoScript 2.4.3 > Clicked on "Restart Now" > FF immediately crashed: > http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-30c26332-cd69-49f6-b6ea- > 05e542120529 This crash report has NoScript and ABP installed. Can you clarify your STR?
As stated, I disabled NoScript then, clicked on "Restart Now" at which point, FF crashed (Mozilla Crash window appeared). I allowed the crash report to be submitted and restarted FF. Once restarted, I confirmed that AdBlockPlus was enabled while NoScript and all other add-ons were disabled. This is the current status of my installation of FF. I will keep this FF config for the next few days. I play crosswords each morning (Pacific time) so, the next likely crash(s) may occur during the morning over the next few days.
Similar same circumstances as previously reported, ie, completed crossword puzzle at http://www.stanxwords.com/today-newsday-crossword.html then, used bookmark to go to http://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/puzzles/daily-crossword. In this case, FF crashed immediately after washington post page had completed loading. http://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-f00ef5ab-6d7c-4ca7-8529-5408b2120530 All add-ons disabled EXCEPT Adblock Plus 2.0.3. Note: I have been using Adblock Plus for at least two years, but since these crashes have ONLY occurred in configs that include later versions of Adblock Plus, I am thinking this add-on is the likely cause. Any input/opinions are appreciated.

I don't have Java installed, could somebody try that with my minimal content policy extension? https://adblockplus.org/trash/testpolicy.xpi

Is this still an issue ? I am getting crash given the about STR.
Abe, if you saw the crash, then it seems you've answered your own question. Can you provide a link to the crash reports? I'm interested in whether this is still a crash in the Firefox process or is a crash in the plugin process.

I remember this issue and never had crash. I also tested it now and have no crash in Firefox or plugin process. I would have submitted the report if I had a crash. I missed 'not' in comment 20. It works fine for me.
