Details
Aurora on Mac OS X
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.7; rv:14.0) Gecko/20120520 Firefox/14.0a2
I wanted to help test the new Firefox Reset button. I got the impression I should still have my bookmarks, passwords, and some other state migrated to a new profile. I ended up with a completely empty profile.
Steps to repro:
1) Use a profile with tons of data (my profile is several years old)
2) Help > Troubleshooting Information
3) Click 'reset Aurora'
Expected:
Aurora restarts with a new profile, but keeps core data like places DB, passwords, bookmarkets
Actual:
Profile has no personalized information that I can find.
I do see two profiles under ~/Library/Application\ Support/Firefox/Profiles/
3p6k5mou.default and uu8aaoy9.default-1337356006317
I may have mis-read the warnings, etc. If my assumptions where right, this is a bad bug and users will lose data.
Hope this is helpful.

Yes, this is a known issue and should be fixed soon. See bug 748047 which will be fixed by bug 748569. As you've found the old profile is still where it was. After bug 731047 lands, it would have been moved to the desktop.
Thanks for the report.

Thanks! Adding info in case someone finds this via search.
To get back to my original profile:
/Applications/FirefoxAurora.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox -P ~/Library/Application\ Support/Firefox/Profiles/3p6k5mou.default
I also got rid of my 'empty' profile
mv ~/Library/Application\ Support/Firefox/Profiles/uu8aaoy9.default-1337356006317 ~/Library/Application\ Support/Firefox/Profiles/uu8aaoy9.default-1337356006317.dead
