Steps to reproduce:

Hello Guys,

today i switch from Outlook Express 6.x to Thunderbird 12.0.1 in german on a
PC with Windows XP SP3.

This is quit an awesome software. Thank you very much for it.

Nearly every shortcut iu used in everyday work with OE6 I found something
similar in Thunderbird.

But:
everytime I try to send an pdf attachment from within acrobat (reader or pro) 'file' -
'attach to e-mail' the thunderbird new message window opens behind the application
and doesnt't get the focus.

same happens if I right-klick a file in the windows explorer and use the sendto -
email recipient. In most cases the Thunderbird new message window doesn't get the
focus nor does it come in the front view so that i can start typeing the recipients adresse.

Can you help ? Any idea ?

Same here (Windows 7 Pro, TB 17.0.5) . Right-click on Explorer > SendTo > Mail opens the new message windows but it is on the background, behind Explorer window.

This still happen on last version of Thunderbird (68.8.0 64bits) on windows 10 1909

It isn't a critical bug, but it is annoying that it is persisting for over a decade and still going on after 3 Major Windows Version, I must agree with others.

Steve, do you still see this issue when using version 102?

If this no longer happens, it has been suggested in bug 758646 to move this bug to Seamonkey.

Tested on Windows 10 and TB 102, the issue is still reproducible, despite not reliably. It really depends on windows order, and when TB was in focus via Alt+Tab
