Details

Usable harfbuzz support for some Indic scripts is landing in bug 758236. However, on versions of OS X prior to 10.7, we mask out Indic ranges from the cmap of fonts unless they have AAT layout tables (see bug 755730). This means that those fonts won't work on 10.6 even when harfbuzz is enabled.
This was fixed in bug 803483 - forgot that I'd already filed it with a slightly different description!
