From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; 0.8.1) Gecko/20010412
BuildID: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; 0.8.1) Gecko/20010412
This is a problem with file formats between Linux/UNIX and Windows.
Trying to make my wife's e-mail function in both Linux and Winders, I have
inadvertantly mixed the UNIX formatted carriage return with the DOS/Winders
carrirage return. After many attempts to right this problem, in Winders 98 it
crashes every time. I think it works okay in Linux, but that was yesterday.
Have attempted with many new versions of Mozilla on both Linux and Winders.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open E-mail with mixed file.
2.
3.
Actual Results: Mozilla caused a GPF in MSGLOCAL.DLL Since I'm in Mozilla and
don't want to crash in the middle of writing this, I may be wrong.
Expected Results: Allowed access to e-mail. Maybe reformat the carriage return
on the fly.

After a little more research on this, it appears to be a problem with multiple
pop accounts. If I start the mail program with two pop accounts at some point
in the downloading of the messages, it crashes (I'm not in Windows, so I can't
tell you the details of the crash information). I go in to prefs.js remove all
the id2 and account3 information, start Mozilla again, reenter the second
account information and everything works fine.
Reporter, your last comment states that this is now a problem with 2 pop
accounts, does mixing the mail files play a role in this too. If not, please
restate the Summary. If you have a recent build, please try it again and if you
crash send send in the Talkback report and update this bug with the incident
number if you can and your basic steps to reproduce it. Thanks

This sounds like a duplicate of a problem that was fixed a while back...
multiple accounts were causing crashes when automatic mail downloading was
enabled. I don't have the bug number handy, but try disabling the "check for new
mail at startup" option. If that stops the crashing, you should be able to solve
it by upgrading to a newer build. If not, ignore me.

wfm: 2 pop mail accounts configured, check mail on both on startup, and share
the profile between win98 and linux. No seemingly related crashing for a looong
time.

Resolving as Worksforme. Dave Higgins, if you have further problems with this
can you please file a new bug. This one appears to reference a couple of
different problems which makes it very confusing for development and QA to work
on. Thanks for your help in testing Mozilla and reporting bugs.
