Our Mozmill l10n tests have been shown that there are some access keys which are used multiple times in the same scope. The full list of those keys you can find here:

I appreciate you posting the bug but there's not much we can do, there's only 18 letters in Gaelic, minus the ones with a descender. Added to that, even with the above list, identifying the string and finding a fix is so time consuming (as the scope is rarely clear) that we don't have the manpower to address the issue.

Added to that, there's the more general question of who actually uses access keys down at that level. Apart from some system wide access keys like ctrl c/v/z, access keys change from program to program so I've personally never bothered to even try to use them or memorise them (and I'm a high volume user). By the time you've bothered to check the letter and racked your brains whether it was a ctrl, alt or alt-gr combination, most people will have simply used the mouse to click.

And honestly, how many times DO you change you're settings?

So unless this process can be automated, I'm minded to ignore this issue and close the bug.

I don't think that it will be too hard because we have a lot of different scopes in that window, where letters can be re-used. Even with 18 less letters. Your labels are quite long so there should always be a free letter available.

Still doesn't explain what on earth the POINT is of having them in that window and thus, why a small team should invest its limited time to try and fix them. 

I really get the feeling that these hundreds if not thousands of access keys, quick keys, shortcuts, hotkeys and whatever else you might call them are just there because someone at some point thought that a couple might be a good idea and then went overboard with them.

Has Mozilla ever considered replacing them with a small addon or even feature which allows you to define those that you actually want and get shot of the rest?

Michael, the main reason why we have accesskeys for all commands is for accessibility of the interface for people that don't/can't surf with a mouse but need a keyboard/braille/text-to-speech interface.

Ok, I'll accept that as an argument, thanks Pascal. Not that any of that is available in Gaelic - but I'll try to find some time to sort them.

I said I'd deal with it when I can scrape some time. However, I'm having a rather busy summer and it's really not high priority for my locale at the moment, given that things like screen readers don't exist. So it may be quite some time but it's on my to-do list. I wish someone would automate them, I really do...

Once you have it landed at http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/l10n/mozilla-aurora/gd/ we will automatically test the tinderbox build which is available a couple of minutes later. So please push so that we can verify. Thanks for working on it.

I think we've had a release since, is it possible to ge-generate the report to check? Actually trying to locate these issues in the interface is almost impossible I find.

Michael, you can always check yourself. Whenever you push a commit have a look at the following page about 10 minutes later. It will list the results of your locale.

Would it be possible for you to regenerate the screenshots for those because especially with the single word "Cobhair" I'm struggling to figure which one it is and what it's clashing with on which screen. I don't know the string names well enough to identify the screen they appear in.
