When uploading media I am getting permission denied errors: All the user media will live inside /data/www/popcornmaker-dev.allizom.org/popcorn_gallery/media/ The stage server uses the same path as well. e.g OSError at /admin/popcorn/template/import/ [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/data/www/popcornmaker-dev.allizom.org/popcorn_gallery/media/templates' Cheers!
No such product "popcorn maker" here, sorry.

alfredo- i have made the media directory permissions (755) in -dev. e(x)ecute was missing before. can you test again in this environment for me? if it works as expected we will make this change to stage as well. side note: what kind of content do you expect will be stored here. if it's profile related stuff that should be shared across all instances, we should setup a netapp share for the application.
Chris, This is great, thank you. The data that will be stored here is all the user can save, thumbnails for the projects and templates in the future. Is netapp a CDN? Cheers!
(In reply to Alfredo Aguirre [:alfredo-] from comment #4) > > The data that will be stored here is all the user can save, thumbnails for > the projects and templates in the future. this is what i expected. other projects use an `uploads` directory in media for this content. examples: ...popcorn_gallery/media/uploads/templates/ ...popcorn_gallery/media/uploads/thumbnails/ what i can do is link the 'uploads' directory to our netapp storage. > Is netapp a CDN? NetApp is enterprise network storage. using this allows us to share data across all instances to matter their locale.
If this is the case it would be better to link /media/ straight to netapp, /media/ is not part of the repository. Is this feasible?
(In reply to Alfredo Aguirre [:alfredo-] from comment #6) > If this is the case it would be better to link /media/ straight to netapp, > /media/ is not part of the repository. > > Is this feasible? lets test it out and see. i have now symlinked the media/ directory to the netapp store in development. media -> /mnt/netapp_dev/popcornmaker-dev.allizom.org/media/
Yay! It worked really well thank you! I need a few other bits done in the servers such as installing a new compiled dependency: ``lxml`` and a couple of management commands that need to be croned. Should I fill more bug reports? or update an existing one? I am happy to do what ever makes your life easier. Cheers!
(In reply to Alfredo Aguirre [:alfredo-] from comment #8) > Yay!
