I would like to see this bug include a help menu for chatzilla, which hopefully will provide/point to specific help for the chatzilla component, as well as detail about chatzilla, and perhaps release notes. I presume it should also include 'Help Contents' and "Release Notes' for mozilla generally, as in other components. Perhaps the chatzilla elements in the menu could refer specifically to chatzilla to avoid confusion with mozilla help.

i took a look at this last night, and it looks easy to do. only questions now are what exactly to put in, for which i turn to robert ginda.
Well, for starters, "About Mozilla" should be the first item in the Apple menu. The Help menu normally contains: About Balloon Help... --- Show Balloons --- Help Contents Release Notes --- About Plug-ins About Mozilla The Edit menu is also missing; that's bug 105881.
Please don't concern yourself with the MacOS apple menu issue, that's some other bug, when the architecture stops getting stuck in fights whomever implements it will do the work for all consumers in mozilla cvs (not necessarily the commit, but the work).
So should the scope of this bug be narrowed to just the Help menu, or should this be marked as a dup of that "some other bug"?
the standard netscape help menu + the about item in the apple menu on mac os 9 was a one line addition, but i don't think cz is going to use that exactly so when rginda specifies what goes in the help menu i will do a custom help menu (i am thinking something like "help contents", "release notes", "-", "about mozilla", "about chatzilla", "-", "chatzilla homepage". as far as i can tell mac mozilla takes its cue from the help menu for the apple menu (or mozilla menu for x), and os 9 and before stick the balloon help items at the top. i will be doing this work under mac os 9, so you can bet that will work. i will try to check it under mac os x (but mozilla is being flaky for me due to ufs), and will be going to rginda on linux so the only thing left is to find someone to do qa for windows. ;) yes, the subject of this bug should probably be "chatzilla missing help menu", and andy, i already submitted a patch to give cz an edit menu...not sure if it has been checked in yet.
adding dep on bug 109200. this could be fixed without that, but not as neatly.

in reference to comment number six > i am thinking something like "help contents", "release notes", "-", "about mozilla", "about chatzilla", "-", "chatzilla homepage". please dont put chatzilla homepage last, "About Program Name" should be last i think it should be About Mozilla, followed by About Chatzilla as the last item
Remove myself from QA of 33 open Chatzilla bugs and change to default QA contact, since I have no way to verify these easily. Still no working Mozilla on my primary platform and it doesn't look like it will happen anytime soon. :(

The normal Mozilla help menu is now present in ChatZilla (I'm using ChatZilla 0.8.7 which comes with Mozilla 1.0rc2). This bug seems to be about ChatZilla specific help in the help menu which is still missing. Perhaps it would be better to change the summary of this bug then? ;)
Summary: `About Mozilla' menu items are missing → Customize ChatZilla's Help menu
The latest 0.9.x versions of ChatZilla have an extra item in the Help menu, "About ChatZilla", which does the same as /about (outputs version and website link). Does that cover this bug ok?
ChatZilla's current Help menu includes the standard Mozilla Help items (automatically) and adds an "About ChatZilla" item to the bottom. This appears to cover this bug, though the intentions of this bug are a big convoluted. If you feel this bug has not been fixed, please reopen it stating what is missing and/or what needs to be done to fix it.
