Here is what I did:
1. Go to apps.mozillalabs.com/appdir
2. Install Mozilla QA WebRT Tester

The app is properly installed (for some value of properly), but the appdir stays on the throbber, and there is no visual feedback that installation succeeded.

When I say "for some value of properly", the application is installed in a $HOME/.http;mozqa.com directory (the ; is pretty unusual), and doesn't show up in gnome shell until gnome shell is restarted, which, arguably, is a problem with gnome shell.

FWIW, this was tested on a Debian sid system, under gnome shell and under a non-gnome/non-KDE session.
(I tested with an aurora 15 nightly)

I don't know if the code in apps.mozillalabs.com/appdir is correct, because in the marketplace the installation is correctly detected.

This should be another bug. Probably this behaviour is due to the session being non-gnome/non-KDE.
I've tested on GNOME 3 with Fedora and Ubuntu.
This is a problem in apps.mozillalabs.com/appdir.

Ian, could you reassing this bug to the right module? Or close and open a new bug in github? (I don't know where you track issues for that website)
The appdir piece of this bug is a won't fix, as the appdir is a test directory not meant for public consumption. Use marketplace.mozilla.org for actual real use.

For feedback on install, there's already a bug on this, so I'll dup on that.
