Firefox is already the default browser in Ubuntu and Canonical is following our rapid release process, I am therefore not sure who the target audience would be. On the other hand, I can see the extra work for Mozilla in putting Ubuntu download links (proper platform detection, design work for all of our download pages, localization work for the download button...).

@pascalc: In further discussing it with some other MoCo folks it does seem like the work required to implement such would be much higher for Mozilla than other open source projects that Ubuntu is trying to target through this initiative.

I'm going to pass this info along to the Ubuntu Community Team at Canonical so they are aware of where things stand currently upstream.

@Kohei: This is not a duplicate of 541737 since this is not linking to instructions but instead a specific download itself. Very similar but still two different issues but either way after discussing this with a number of MoCo people it does not appear Mozilla has any interest in doing this due to the technical requirements plus the importance of keeping the Mozilla brand intact.

I will be passing the information down to Ubuntu so they can mark their item as declined by upstream.
