There were problems with RelEng picking up newer mozillabuild1.6 because it included a newer 7zip. (After some digging I still cant find that bug#, will add here when I find it.). 

Meanwhile, filing to track after emails and then irc with Ted, as we do need to deploy newer NSIS, and having clean mozillabuild on production machines feels safer.
...or update to a newer version that's not busted. iirc the version we last tried wasn't the latest 7zip available.
The theory behind just reverting was that it's less testing because it gets us back to a known-good state.
In the interests of time, we've deployed NSIS 2.46 to production machines instead of blocking on new MozillaBuild 1.6.1. Details in bug#762218. 

However, keeping this bug open as it would be good to create new mozillabuild, so devs can use same toolchain as RelEng.
